Rescued by knight Balian, Saladin's journey saw him face slavery, rebellion, and pivotal battles in Egypt, where he rose to power as Vizier with the Fatimid Caliph's approval. Despite tensions with Nureddin Zengi's circle, Saladin solidified control over key cities like Damascus, Aleppo, and Cairo, laying the groundwork for the Ayyubid State. After defeating King Guy at Hattin, Saladin fulfilled his lifelong dream by reclaiming Jerusalem peacefully, earning admiration as the city's unchallenged conqueror.
