After spending his childhood as an overlooked orphan in the human world, twelve-year-old Orin Blackwood is summoned to the legendary Wedwood Academy to claim his birthright within the Fire Kingdom. As he navigates a treacherous social hierarchy dominated by elite elemental royals and learns to bond with a chaotic dragon. Orin discovers that his arrival has awakened an ancient, forbidden magic. While he and his newfound friends, the loyal Jax and the brilliant Lia, struggle to survive deadly creature attacks and grueling trials, they remain unaware that the greatest threat to the Four Kingdoms is hidden in plain sight. The season follows their journey from outcasts to heroes, culminating in the terrifying realization that one of their own is the destined heir to the Shadow—a power capable of rewriting reality itself.

Orin Blackwood never belonged anywhere. He never got to take a vacation, or even go to the park with his parents. Instead, he lived in an orphanage, where the only thing he could do was look out the window and hope. But when a letter arrives from Wedwood Academy—a school for the elements—and he is sorted into Fire, he feels he has finally found a home.However, happiness doesn't last long. Along with his two friends—Lia Redwood, a girl with a deep past, and Jax Ashworth, a sharp, calculating redhead—he has to navigate the challenges of school, life, and dragons.But when darker forces arrive that do not belong to the four elements, the trio realizes they are not alone in this world, and that there are worse things to come. Now that the shadows have awakened, a war is hinting on the horizon, and the first sightings were just the beginning.
Wedwood Chronicles and Camp Lakeword
During the summer at Wedwood, Orin is sent to Camp Lakewood, a place for survival. There, he meets Lily, a girl who knows the terrain better than anyone else. Together, they explore and survive, but then the attacks begin. People start to notice that the shadows are lurking, and Orin is directly targeted.Once he returns to school with Lia and Jax, life becomes anything but ordinary. From dealing with his dragon to being dragged up into the sky by shadows, everything is spinning out of control. To make matters worse, he discovers he has living family members and a deeper past tied to the realm's leaders. On top of it all, he has to attend a formal ball with Lily, the girl he met at camp. Everything is spiraling out of control.

After the grid started cracking, Orin and his friends, Lia Redwood, Jax Ashworth, and Lia's new friend, Kael, go on a journey to restore it. They go through trials of each element, stay in the woods to fight shadows, and Lia binds her mark to the point she almost dies. With the forest lurking and the monster awakening, Orin has to find these stones, and the only place is the Ashborn Ruins.

With the war now on, Jax finds something deeper in his bloodline, and Lia goes into hiding with Jax and Orin. Orin is now wanted by the shadow and to be killed. The fate of the world is in their hands as Jax finds out his line is to the source itself and Lia struggles to keep control. They might have to rely on their slice of fate.
Wedwood Chronicles and The Bind of the Grid
Lily goes missing, Orin goes into hiding, Lia is bound in her shadows, and Cassian is on the verge of choosing himself or the world. Jax fights for the bloodline, and Orin suspects he and Lia might be related in some way. From running through the forest, to fighting the shadows, to avenging his parents who might be alive, and to binding the grid, Orin must rely on everything... and nothing.

With the heir of fire being Jax, his brother takes the crown. Orin and Jax have to navigate where Lia is, as she is missing somewhere into her past. They have to pray the Wedwood won't leak into the real world and that they wont be caught by the shadow. With war being announced, they have to fight, but when Henry gets killed by a shadow soldier in armor, Jax has to take the crown, leaving Orin to re-bind the grid from collapsing. They realize the war isn't real—it is all in their bloodlines.
Wedwood Chronicles and The Final Life
The final battle to avenge Henry erupts. War rages, millions die. Orin needs to kill the Shadow King. Jax needs to hunt down Lia—he is meant to kill her, but deep down, he doesn't want to. Orin has to use the stones to kill the King. He needs multiple resources; he needs to find the fate of everyone. With people dying everyday and the Wedwood leaking into the normal world, Orin has to find something quickly. Lia and Jax fight in the war. Orin drowns in his duties, and one thing is for sure: this is the final battle.
